For the first time I've read the full lyrics to England's national anthem, God Save The Queen
In general it's a boring, paranoid song composed by a paranoid man (King Henry VIII I believe). If an entire nation chanting regularly about God Saving your life in the nick of time will help, then he contrived it.
But I WAS very amused by the stanza...
Scatter her enemies
And make them fall;
Confound their politics,
Frustrate their knavish tricks,
On Thee our hopes we fix,
Oh, save us all!
*giggles* So utterly English. =P
