Say Cheese!

Cheese.

Sadly another FF post, yes I am slightly obsessed. I want this pic to use as my desktop wallpaper, I wonder if it's been released by the film makers. They could have done alot more with the story, but I guess right now it's just left up to our imagination about the dynamics of the relationship between Cloud and Tifa, and the kids, and the rest of the crew.

I don't have many photos in my room at the moment. It's making me think about family now. And friends. And other things.

And hey. My girlfriend and I have broken up. It's been four good years, who would have thought, time flies. Four years. Losing someone that's been so close for so long, is like.. like it or not... something like what I feel when I lose a family member. Along with it goes the same sense of unreality and disbelief because what was lost was so far away to begin with. And no I'm not saying anymore about it here on this blog.

The Hall of Heroes

The Hall Of Heroes in Guild Wars is the final battle in the inter continental competition for obtaining favour of gods for your country. I play with Team Discovery Channel, and they are an amazing bunch of players: and generous too, for recruiting a newbie like me on the strength of a friend's recommendation. =p

The main attraction really, is the teamspeak or ventrilo voice chat communication. Games are played in an 8v8 format, and fast communication is absolutely vital to a team's success. Talking in a TS / Vent server will send your voice to every member of the team.

I guess much of my early reading and inspiration came from military style novels like Enders game, or any number of Timothy Zahns space opera fics. Playing on TS is like giving me a second chance to relive those memories. Star Wars space combat comes to mind as well. Communication is clipped, short, and to the point : radio discipline gives way to plain chatter sometimes, which is also okay, the tension you can hear in the other players voices is palpable. The leader has to inspire trust and confidence in his team. I have full respect for my team leader, he is just amazing and he pulls out wins from situations I would not have thought possible.

A short transcript of radio chat:

"fragility on 4"
"removing 4"
"seeding 2"
"switching"
"target lingered"
"someone pick up 6"
"morale boost, next aegis is mine"
"ignore hex on 8"
"seeding ghostly"
"switching"
"two warrior on 7"
"seeding 7"

We have a guy on there with a very cool sexy voice. No I have no idea who he is ^_^ but it's just indescribably cool to hear him say "target is lingered" over the general crosstalk in his smooth low voice. o_o

But yes, we rock. Hard. And kill so many top rated guilds and players along the way to claiming Halls.

PS : the picture is me with my PvP character standing outside the Hall of Heroes. my ingame handle is Seeker, which I think is a suitably cool callsign hehe. some allusions to HP Quidditch and some allusions to MTG character called the Seeker of Skybreak. wearing tatoo patterns instead of actual clothes gives me more energy to use but lately i have taken to wearing actual proper armour.

Cloud's, uhm, sword...

Pretty interesting, no? I guess not, except to fans of Final Fantasy VII AC. The basic crappy looking blade pops open into "battle mode" a wider and meaner looking blade, first seen when Cloud encounters Rufus. The other 3 components of the sword are used at various times in the movie. His final move where he finishes off the bad guy is indeed called the "Omnislash" and involves seperating his sword into 6 pieces and clobbering Sephiroth to bits. Two of the sword pieces have duplicates, front and back, so that makes 6 (simple counting exercise) but then I could be wrong.

I shall end this post here because I really don't have anything worthwhile to say about this picture. =p

Random hawtness

This picture is only partly related : you will understand my difficulty when you finish reading this.

This post was triggered by me reading about how girls apparently want guys to stare at their boobs (wear revealing clothes) yet guys who do so get called perverts. Ah. The pretense of "decency" in society where a ladylike girl doesn't dress like a, ahem, wayward girl, and a gentlemanly guy doesn't want to stare at a girl's cleavage.

Now. Personally. Hasn't happened to me many times. I have a friend or two who insists on revealing large amounts of boobage but I am not remotely attracted to them in any way, so I'm just indifferent. But there are the rare occasions where an attractive girl will be wearing a loose top and smile and lean forward to look me in the eye and then yes I fully understand the dilemma. Gah. *falls out of chair*

If I was a girl I'd probably do that just to have a good laugh at my friend's expense. But only if I liked him. Sexual attraction between the both genders drives a large portion of our social interaction with friends even though no one admits so. There are so many ways we are supposed to and not supposed to act : we both see through the pretense, yet maintain the facade of what decent people are supposed to do. I rather suspect the same also applies for relations between friends of same gender (puts on flame retardant suit). But yes, even girls who are good looking flock together into cliques : guys of same interests flock together : aren't these roughly the same criteria we use to choose a partner?

But back to the question. Sneaking furtive quick looks when you think she isn't looking is probably the worst thing you can do. Oh I forgot about openly staring with your mouth slightly open and having a bit of drool coming out the side. Anyway.

From what I gather, probably the best you can do is openly give her a once over (stare all you want for a few seconds) when you meet or get introduced, indicate to her that you like what you see. Take longer than strictly necessary, because you won't be doing this again anytime soon. Then you of course you regretfully resolve to not stare at her cleavage (or any other body part, oh you dirty person you) for the meantime, and then attempt to engage her in engaging and intelligent conversation being the Mensan that you are. It's all just a game. We like our attractiveness acknowledged : we don't like our attractiveness obsessed over.

And about the picture : I don't know why but I was unable to find a sufficiently hot girl with lots of cleavage (and you know, I am afraid of searching the internet for the following keywords : girls, boobs, cleavage) so I guess a randomly hot girl decently dressed will have to do for now - I wonder how many guys will save this photo to their computer *evil grin* And hey, faces rule all : no amount of boobs or hot muscled body can save a person with an ugly face. Sad fact.

(if you are dissatisfied with the hotness of this girl there is a 7 day money back guarantee and i will post another picture more to your liking)

Yay for Harry Potter Fan Fic =p

Repost from Winter.

Cassandra Claire has evil funny writing, hah. She's the one that wrote the Very Secret Diaries or something like that, for a LOTR parody. I didn't really like them much (not so much to my taste) but what I DID like, however, are some of her Harry Potter parodies and just general fantasy.

Girls Guide to Defeating the Dark Lord is somewhat predictable but a really good read nonetheless. =p

Something Impossible falls into the category of Harry Potter slash. Harry / Draco and if you don't like slash then you shouldn't read. =p And if you don't know what slash is then you should Google it first as it's a less painful way of finding out than reading. =p

Caveat Lector is a deliciously funny Ginny fic where she's trying to tie up loose ends with the Dark Lord.

A Lot To Be Upset About is yet another Ginny / Draco pairing that's reasonably ok, but what's really funny here is the parody on Harry's behaviour in Order of The Phoenix. Gave me quite a few giggles.

Confusion

I think I will keep this blog and put most of the content here. Expect some reposts from Winter to end up here. I like it too much. Winter shall remain online and I shall post in it infrequently, if at all.

Need For Speed Underground has repeatedly won accolades for its ingame soundtrack, consisting for the most part of various alternative rock, pop and punk. This is one of the few soundtrack selections to strike a chord with my taste in music, and hey it makes great driving music. A few of my favourites =p

Story of the Year : And the Hero Will Drown. Genre : rock / pop. Really gives you a feeling of tearing up the roads, my favourite of this lot.
Lost Prophets : Ride. Genre, Rock / Pop. Very catching intro and buildup, and gotta love the guitar riffs.
Andy Hunter : The Wonders of You. Genere, trance, electronic, techno? Whatever... just sounds great. This is from a christian album too, surprise.
BT : Kimosabe. Genre, Electronic / Rap. Surprisingly catchy song, for someone like me who isn't fond of rap.
The Crystal Method : Too Slow. Genre, rock / electronic.
Rob Zombie : Two Lane Blacktop. Genre, modern rock.
Static X : The Only. Genre, heavy metal?
Quarter : Fuel. Genre, rock?
Junkie XL : Action Radius. Genre, techno?

Story of the Year is a pretty good group, I might end up getting their CD or something. And I'm definitely going to check out the others.

Final Fantasy Advent Children

Final Fantasy Advent Children. Some of the best (and most over the top) action sequences ever seen in CG. Some of the hottest girls and prettiest guys = ) This movie release seems aimed squarely at fans of the video game, Final Fantasy 7. Other than that, it's just a huge action sequence with some minor bits of dialogue and plot to hold it together. I mean, the final action sequence starts mid way through the entire movie. Good soundtrack managed to keep the action sequences tight and thread them together. I can't stop watching this, haha, such a visual treat.

*edit* cloud is so hot =p

Winter

I am reopening Winter : my previous blog design and title. And also resuming more normal blogging schedule and topics. I will be updating both of them on a regular basis I guess.

(We hope)

Still keeping this blog open simply because it's so convenient to stick pictures up here.

Last night

I had two nightmares. The one I much preferred was the one where I was in an underground sewer and then being eaten alive by rats. Well at least I was trying not to be, and running away while more and more burst out of the walls and started chewing on me =p And of course I had to trip and fall when I tried to run up the flight of stairs that would take me back to the surface (as if that would do me any good). And no it's no use asking me about what the other one was except that it was 10x worse =p

My digital drumkit sounds awesome with a good pair of headphones. Conclusion : drums are meant to be played very loud. No meaning at all if you play at low volume. =p

Seeker's new outfit

Seeker got given a set of casual clothes from her cousin Kirin. On one hand the black jacket looks smart over the brown sweater, but even she had to admit that the designer had gone a bit overboard with the gold trimming. Pictures snapped last night while comparing outfits with Shahai who's just bought herself a set of new necromancer clothing. Seeker herself dabbles in necromancy but is too caught up with the material side of life to fully embrace the necromancers credo of self discipline and sacrifice.
